As much good luck as I’ve had with Avalon Hill war board games on eBay, I’ve had bad luck buying cell phones.
Sure enough, the phone I purchased from batterymania — which took nearly a month to arrive, between the return of the defective first unit and the missing battery in the replacement — was recently damaged when I dropped it. (That, of course, is in no way batterymania’s fault, except to the extent they cursed the phone from the start).
So, I decided to buy a replacement and found this vendor, who promised me a new, unlocked Motorola V3 RAZR from Italy, with all kinds of accessories — AC & DC chargers, a genuine-Motorola, real-leather carrying case, Motorola Phone Tools software disc (OEM from China), a USB sync cable for the computer and a genuine Motorola wired headset — for $135.
It seemed too good to be true at the time, but I looked at his 99.8 percent positive feedback, on over 5,000 transactions, and figured, “Let’s give it a try.”
Well, I couldn’t be happier. Not only did I get everything advertised, but I received it, from Michigan, in two days. The people at batterymania charged more for shipping and it took twice as long to arrive via DHL (the world’s worst courier; the only company that could take over Airborne Express and make it less efficient).
I only have one complaint: The day after I placed my order, this vendor started listing a bunch of blue V3 RAZRs, which is what I really wanted, at the same price. But I do love my black RAZR, and will almost certainly get my next phone (give it about two months) from this vendor.
