About Me

Here’s a photograph of me taken in Sept. 2006

I am a free-lance computer programmer and business consultant based in Augusta, Maine.

I was raised in Augusta from age 3. I attended Cony High School from 1981-1985 and the University of Maine in Orono from 1986-1991, where I majored in broadcast journalism. I was at varying times chief student engineer for WMEB-FM (the student radio station) and editor of the Daily Maine Campus (among many other jobs held at the student paper).

I was a reporter for the weekly Star Herald newspaper in Presque Isle, ME from June 1991 to August 1992. From August 1992 to sometime in 1996, I worked in several jobs at the daily Kennebec Journal newspaper in Augusta (starting as police reporter, ending up as business editor, working for a time as beat reporter for Chelsea, Winthrop, Augusta and the courts).

I became editorial writer for the Central Maine Morning Sentinel newspaper in Waterville, ME in 1996, and became editorial writer for both the Sentinel and the KJ in 1998, following the passing of Davis Rawson.

I left the newspapers in May 1999 to begin my computer / Internet consulting business. I continued writing Sunday opinion columns for the newspapers until May 2004.
