Doug Vanderweide

I am a cloud solutions architect for 10th Magnitude, an Azure-only consultancy based in Chicago. My practice is based out of Dallas, where I help medium- and large-sized enterprises adopt and expand their Azure presence. My specialty is in application modernization via Platform as a Service, but I also spend a fair amount of my time aiding businesses in their planning for datacenter migration to Azure.

Previously I was an Azure subject matter expert and instructor for LinuxAcademy.com, an online training and instruction website, and CloudAssessments.com, a hands-on learning and skills assessment tool. While there, I helped technical people understand, learn and certify themselves in Microsoft’s cloud technologies.

I hold certifications as a Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure, Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer: App Builder, Microsoft Certified Trainer and Microsoft Partner Seller – Cloud Solution Architect (P-CSA). I am also a CompTIA CTT+ Certified Technical Trainer.

Formerly I was a solution architect and senior software developer for the Portland Press Herald / Maine Sunday Telegram newspapers in Portland, Maine, Kennebec Journal newspaper in Augusta, Maine, Morning Sentinel newspaper in Waterville, Maine and MaineToday.com, Maine’s leading entertainment website.

My role there included the specification, design, coding and maintenance of customer service portals, content automation robots and mission-critical middleware solutions.

I was raised in Augusta, Maine. I graduated Cony High School and the University of Maine in Orono, where I majored in broadcast journalism.

I was a staff writer for the weekly Star Herald newspaper in Presque Isle, Maine and the Kennebec Journal, and served as editorial writer for the Sentinel and the KJ, before departing to do Web development full-time in 1999. I rejoined the newspapers in 2012.
